Beyond Grades - Exploring Motivation Through the Gamification Lens

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

As teachers, we can't settle for grades as the only way to motivate students. Revamp the game of school by learning about motivation. Catch the wave that drives students to the video gaming world. Gamification is human-focused design and educators have a lot to learn from gaming industry. We will take a deep dive with author and speaker, Yu-kai Chou. His “Octalysis” framework has helped many schools rethink their reliance on the grading structure. Each piece of the 8 sided puzzle of motivation will be filled with digital tools to encourage all students to love learning. Teachers will swim with the knowledge they can build balanced lessons to reach and inspire more students. You’ll understand why some activities don’t motivate specific students. Positively impact digital and analog strategies that create an immersive Blended Learning environment.
