“Hang 10” Tips for Developing a Schoolwide Culture of Self-Reflection using Video

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Jim Knight states: “When we record ourselves doing our work, we see that reality is very different from what we think” (Focus on Teaching, 2014). Video allows lifelong learners to use technology to obtain feedback that allows for reflection and improvement in the learning process. In this session, we will explore the options available, and the supports needed to build and sustain an ever-improving, self-reflecting culture within schools. Session participants will have an opportunity to observe and practice using Swivl to record a lesson, see and dialogue about how coaches, administrators, and colleagues can use processes to host meaningful reflective conversations, and will leave with a concrete plan to incorporate video into their work this year and the enthusiasm to build capacity within their staff.
